StockX vs Twilio Offers

Current TC 170k cash, 120k startup equity. 8 YOE living Michigan. I really don’t anyone who works at either company to give me the “what’s what”. EDIT Twilio didn’t counter and said I’d have to do a totally new loop to be considered for staff… Going to StockX!!!! Thanks everyone :)

Companies like StockX don’t generally go public, do they? If that’s true, that equity means nothing, so I’d go with Twilio.

Apparently they were supposed to in 2021 but market conditions set them back. I think they will because Gilbert is their seed investor and he’s got like 20b 😂. Why do you think they wouldn’t go public? Lots of users and growth

they also did a tender offer a few years back and bought people’s stock, so the equity could worth something before that

350k to work from Michigan?

yeah

Twilio 🦂king- Jul 8, 2023

Paper money based on supposed evaluation… Pre-IPO stock shouldn’t be considered TC if there are no ways to liquidate prior to IPO.

Twilio wqejkrh Jul 7, 2023

Twilio doesn't offer bonuses unless you're in Sales, only base+equity

I thought recruiter said sign on and recurring…… I’ll talk to them. If true, then even shittier.

Twilio wqejkrh Jul 7, 2023

It's probably just a signing bonus, but the real problem is that you can't compare an IC3 offer with an IC4 one. Either you get them to bump you to IC4 or they can't match StockX

Someone from Twilio recently made post on how Twilio is making up users data. I feel company might face decent amount of problems in coming days and for less Tc, i will pass that instability. https://blog.miguelgrinberg.com/post/goodbye-twilio

You misinterpreted his blog post. He was also disgruntled and not an engineer so he didn't have access to anything.

Twilio catsnax🥩 Jul 8, 2023

Why is this getting upvoted? ☠️ The "make up" part of that blog post is referencing using AI, it literally directly links to that

SpaceX

It’s stockX, you blind 😀

Twilio twloking Jul 9, 2023

Half the folks assumed it's SpaceX and voted. Won't lie I did the same too until my brain barf cleared and understood its not SpaceX. You cannot unvote or revote lol

Congrats

The news I’ve been hearing about Twilio the last couple years is awful. Supposedly making up user data like the other commenter said, multiple downsizes. Twilio doesn’t look like a safe or smart choice given their history.

Twilio catsnax🥩 Jul 9, 2023

Bro did you actually read the other commenters link? "make up" refers to AI generated data. Not that twilio is in the best place as a whole, but this spreading of one commenters misinterpretation is dumb

ZoomInfo Creephard Jul 9, 2023

No, I’ve heard shady shit elsewhere. I’ve also asked previous and current employees what it’s like working there and they’re not a great company it looks like. The outlook is pretty shakey and they’ve done multiple rounds of sizable layoffs compared to stockx. I get you want to defend the company you work at, but this is Blind. It’s not LinkedIn where you need to put up a public front or avoid criticism in the eyes of your boss. Be realistic, Twilio is on shakey ground and if a person has a better offer elsewhere (or even the same offer) they’d be foolish not to take it.

Does Twilio low ball to this extent? I thought they pay 400k+ for seniors. Was going to apply but now not sure :(

Seems not very common on levels.fyi

We’re cheap as hell now

Keurig Dr Pepper Inc. dinosaur68 Jul 7, 2023

Both offers fully remote?

I probably will take StockX the base is good, save and invest don’t increase your expenses.
