I have an interview coming up for a terminal reader team. I’ve been an android dev at Amazon for 3 years and am trying to figure out what I should focus on. It’s my understanding that stripe isn’t a big fan of LC style interviews. Is it still worth brushing up on LC or better to focus on android fundamentals and design? #stripe #stripeinterview
Ah bummer, I was hoping to make the move for better wlb but sounds like that may not be the case. Thanks for your help.
No LC questions, expect to build and design an android app from scratch, know your kotlin, jetpack technologies and architectural design patterns
Don't do it, stay at Amazon
Hey, did you end up interviewing? I have an interview as well and wanted to know what is it like to interview with the terminal team.
To answer your question, just brush up on LeetCode. You'll need to program and it'll help with interviews at other places. Not sure if you care, but Terminal is one of the more dysfunctional orgs at Stripe. Their retention is poor. People often leave either to other teams or from Stripe altogether. They recently hired their only two staff engineers, and then fired them within 6 months. Two Android engineers just quit, that's a third of the Android engineers at Stripe. They can only retain ~50% of the women who join the org. There are no managers in the entire org that have been there for even a year. All of the previous managers were either fired or escaped to other teams at Stripe. Be wary about joining Terminal at Stripe.
Well thanks for the heads up. Unfortunately Amazon isn’t super great right now but sounds like stripe might not be much better. Are there any good Android teams at stripe I should look out for openings on? I really appreciate you sharing your insight.
There's a mobile team that handles the SDK, but it doesn't matter what team you apply for. Terminal hemorrhages so many good people that even if you interview for mobile, they still get first dibs because all of their projects are top priority. And nobody refuses this bait n switch because who's going to turn down Stripe?
