Just finished interviewing with Stripe and will hear back from them very soon according to recruiter. But I also have a Google offer expiring in a few days. In case I get the offer from Stripe, should I go with Google or Stripe? Background: Currently in a non-CS PhD program, depending on how things go, may graduate in 2025 or 2026. I already did a SWE internship at Google before and am returning to the same team for another internship. G pros: better WLB(?), no conversion interview if do another internship. Stripe pros: The intern project sounds more interesting. More flexible RTO policy. Plus I get the chance to know how things work outside Google. Also during the team match at G I told my host (under whom I did the previous internship) I didn't have other opportunities (which I didn't at the time) and I am afraid I might burn bridges if not going to Google - is this a valid concern? Current TC: 35k stipend #swe #software #engineering #google #stripe #machinelearningengineer
I think Stripe is doing stack ranking, so it might be a toxic environment. Hopefully, someone from Stripe can chime in.
What does stack ranking mean from your perspective? Employees at pretty much all companies are given ratings and there is guidance for roughly how many people should fall into each category at the company level.
Stripe is pretty stressful compared to Google. Pay makes it worth it for some
Hey could u pls share your interview experience at Stripe for ML intern position?
Google more prestigious
Micro poll here: like this if you think Stripe is more prestigious.
