I’ve recently had an offer from Stripe for a Solutions Architect role, base + bonus + RSU. There is no signing bonus however. I’ve had mixed messages when looking on line and wanted to see if others had recently received a signing bonus?
Usually sign on bonuses are for candidates that are waking away from something. e.g. a bonus coming up, an RSU grant, paying back another sign on bonus. The only company I know of that bakes a sign on into the comp structure is Amazon, and that’s because of their RSU vest. You can ask for one, but unless you have a good reason for asking, they may say no.
I’ve never had an offer without signing bonus, many companies. But I always interviewed with several companies at the same time.
All interviews are before 2021
In this market, take it.
What’s the offer, Op? How was the interview process?
This is UK, so we don’t get the silly high salaries in the US. TC would be £260k, current at AWS is £220k I found process to be very smooth and open, feedback was provided back to me and the offer came through pretty quickly
That's fantastic and in real terms probably higher than 350k in nyc/sf given COL in London. Congrats!
What’s their offer TC? And you current?

‘silly high salaries’ … that is so relative. Many in this world would consider your current comp of 220k as a ‘silly high salary’
Post your offer in the description dude! FWIW: £260k for UK is pretty much in line with “silly high salaries in the US”. Most people earn 80-90k GBP
£260k for a solutions architect in UK sounds like a lot. Wow didn’t know they are paid this much.
In the words of Liam Neeson “What I do have are a particular set of skills. Skills I have acquired over a very long career”
Most companies have pulled away from sign-ons unless you performed highly in the interviews & the position is fairly niche, if not the market is flooded in most verticals.
Stripe is cheap af nowadays. New employees are massively underpaid than existing employees
Started interviewing for an associate SA role and the OTE was like 100-120k ote...backed out especially when it was in office 5 days a week
OP, can I DM you. I have a few questions regarding the interview process.

When asking for missed bonus, the best strategy is to have the company know about it so they can offer you accordingly (ie don’t disclose what your bonus is worth to the penny, maybe overshoot slightly). That ends up being a fair price for your expertise and knowledge as an architect . Imo, Titles don’t matter nor do RSUs depending on the bonus so keep that in mind as you think about the bonus (ie companies tend to replace a bonus with those). If you feel the company has mis-valued your bonus, we are ofc here on blind you can share with us TC deets for fellow candidates TC: 235K
WTF is this? What is the OP asking and what generic response did you give! Simple - does Stripe offers include signing bonus? Gawd!
Are you a recruiter? jeez drink your coffee for today. But fine, i'll update it to be more relevant I guess
