Any Stripe L3 folks around that can help give insights around the current comp offered to new hires? Numbers on levels.fyi (215k-220k base) don't seem to be representative of current climate as the recruitment team is telling me there's no budging on the lower numbers I'm getting. No sign on bonus either. Base: ~200k Equity: ~80k/yr Sign on Bonus: 0 Yearly perf bonus: 15% of base (~30k) with actual awarded amount based on performance (or something along those lines) TC: ~310k
If you ask for comp review without posting comp you probably deserve the lower comp tbh
This. What kind of post is this.
Bhahaha fair fair. Updated OP
Do u have competing offers? Can Stripe give more stocks? This seems low compared to last year
No competing offers. Early in the interviewing process with a couple of other places but timing might not line up if I get through with those.
tbh even if you had competing offers they're not going to budge on comp. there are very few roles open, and a lot of people would take that offer.
Your offer is about right. There were massive cuts on stock grants. Was 2-3 times higher in 2020
This is what I heard from the recruiter as well. They made a call-out of FMV also dropping, so effective RSUs allotted rounds out about the same? Also something about vesting cycles changing to 1 year grants on hire rather than 4 years. Thanks for your take on this!
Only the number of shares is determined annually. The total money amount is still given out on hire. Say last year’s offer has total $800k stock, u get only 400k this year. Even if stock price is half this year, u only get the same number of shares for the first year. For year 2,3,4 u literally get only 1/2 of who joined last year 🫠
Stripe cut comp targets quite a bit recently. What you see on levels.fyi was true for 2021-2022 but isn't true now. From what little information we know internally it seems like this is about average.
Thanks
Damn I know we cut comp but seeing this in the wild feels like what a joke we are making ourselves
Rumor is that hiring managers mitigated this by giving higher levels to new hires, which in the end squeezes internal up-leveling. Yuqs.
Yeah this L3 offer feels like a strong offer for, well, an L2. Hopefully we don’t inflate the titles to get the right people in and screw the existing employees.
Isn’t L3 at Stripe is same as L5 at FAANG?
Is L3 senior sde? $310 (including bonus) feels too low even for this climate. It might still make sense given your current situation depending on what it is.
Yep, Senior SDE. Current situation is not dire, but $ isn't something I'm optimizing for, generally speaking. What's a ballpark TC figure to be expected in this climate?
What a joke offer lol
What numbers?
Updated OP
Sounds about right for new L3 numbers. Not worth from what I know from ppl internally
