Stripe - $242 K TC including annual value grant Plaid - $238 K TC including RSUs I'm really torn about this one. On the one hand, I think I like Stripe's products better and they obviously are bigger/ more scale than Plaid. However, I don't like the annual value grant because you get zero upside if Stripe stock shoots up. And Stripe's stock price is def not going down anytime soon. With Plaid, you get way more upside with the traditional RSUs plus overperformance on variable comp is more rewarded than Stripe so total pay could be significantly higher. However, they are much smaller than Stripe and I worry about whether their products will be as relevant in the future as government agencies like the Fed and Clearing House modernize ACH payments. Stripe seems better positioned from a products perspective. Which should I take? Update: One thing you can't overvalue is people and that's where Stripe was unmatched after multiple conversations post-offers. Stripe it is! #stripe #stripeipo #plaid #fintech #sales #offer #offerpad #compensation
Wtf did you get those numbers from?
It’s not zero upside.
Could you elaborate? If you are guaranteed a certain dollar amount of shares per year, then if the stock price goes up you just get fewer shares. In an RSU format, you get a guaranteed number of shares and when the stock price goes up, your equity is worth more. So where is the upside in the Stripe format?
For instance, first year’s RSU has the same upside.
The offers look the same and the upside is nice but won’t be life changing for either company since both are fairly late stage. I would focus on what sales team you will find the most success on and what product you feel passionate about. That’s what the decision should come down to.
I would decide based on the valuation Plaid's offer is based on. If it is the previous 5b when Visa failed to acquire then great!
Yes, it is based on the 5b valuation
I would take it!
I would choose Plaid
Those are some nice TC numbers, do you mind sharing Years of Experience? Is commission a key component in sales? Didn't see that figure in your numbers.
Yes both of these include commissions. I have 7 years of experience
UPDATE: I ended up taking Stripe. Financially, I agree Plaid looked better from the outside however the one thing I care about more than anything else is working with good people. Their Head of Sales is a jerk and not someone I'd ever want to work with at any company. Caution to anyone interviewing with them Thank you to everyone for the advice!
Most leadership at Plaid is frat president ivy type you see in movies. It's surreal
Op what level was it at Plaid?
Was this for L3 or L2 sales?
In 2020 plaid did 140b of sales stripe did 2b that should be telling
I agree that Plaid’s the better choice, but where did you get that 140B figure from?
Uh.....what?
