Hi all , I have an offer from stripe and wanted to understand the rules for first year grant around how FMV is calculated for the number of stock units to be vested . I know the new RSU policy has a limited upside , but I’m still curious to learn about it . So the recruiter told me that my first years vest would be average of 3 months FMV before my start date . And rest all would be avg. of 3 months FMV of vest start date, I’m a little confused here. So for example : if I start on Jan 2022 . 1. My first vest will be on Jan 2023 , however the number of units that I would vest during my first vest would be based on average of fmv during oct , nov, dec 2021 right ? So even if stripe ipo happened ( hypothetically) during 2022 , it’ll have no bearing on my first vest right ? 2. The rest of vest would be based on avg of FMV 3 months before the actual vest date or what is it like ? Can someone from stripe clarify this to me? Thank you so much in advance. #2 is wrong. It’s the average FMV before your annual vest anniversary.
As in if my vest for first year is on Jan 2022 , then my vest for next year , which starts immediately at quarterly basis ALL will be based 3 months before Jan 22 ? Like if the first vest for Jan 22 , my next vest would be a quarter from there , April 22 , and then July 22 and so on. .. All of these will be based on 3 months before Jan 22 itself ?
yeah - the # of shares is decided at grant time
your 1st yr grant uses the 3 months before you start to calculate the price of the shares and then the $$ value you got for equity will be converted to # of shares at that price. Those shares are vested over the yr. your subsequent 1yr grants use the preceding 3 months of the anniversary of your vesting start date to calculate the price.
Ahh !!
The document says that : for all subsequent grants , avg fmv of 90 days from “the vesting system date for each Respective grant “ So now that means even though subsequent vests happen quarterly , they still are priced based on the first quarters vests , 90 day fmv as opposed to doing it each quarter for that year right ? Just to double check ?
Hey OP or anyone at @Stripe. I saw here in other posts that people know exactly which level they are interviewing for. However when I directly asked the recruiter working with me they said that both level and team matching are done at offer stage. Does that sound right? I did apply through Stripe's career page but also had an employee putting my resume "on the pipeline", would that affect anything?
Yeah. I think it's exactly as you've described.
Awesome , so just to confirm your first grant is based on the price for 3 months before your joining date on stripe or first day on stripe right ? Just curious if it was the same for you as well ? As some of the people on stripe are on the older RSU model ?
My virtual on-site is coming up, any tips on prep / areas to focus ?
