People at StubHub: what's your opinion on the potential spin-off, and how do you think it would impact you?
It’s for the best. SH needs a slimming down since it’s so top heavy from layoffs and crazy high attrition
StubHub will do so much without the unnecessary bureaucracy and yes-men/women at eBay. eBay has a reputation in the Valley. And all the really good people went to PayPal. eBay is full of has beens and lack innovation. They aren’t innovative. And they put processes for the sake of having a process. It’s called operational challenges. They can’t get out of their own way. And StubHub has adopted some bad habits from eBay over time. Time to get rid of eBay.
Maybe this spin off and operational review will help eBay get back on its feet and grow. Cause I don't see the point in investing so much in StubHub, cause there is a much bigger growth opportunity in core e-commerce business. If we're going to throw money away might as well do it in a place that might actually revitalize the marketplace.
You realize that stubhub is profitable, right? And pumps profits back into eBay. In fact given ebay's bottom line focus stubhub cannot reinvest and focus on growth. It will be better off to spin off as then stubhub can focus on growth and eBay stays as a cash cow.
StubHub is eBay’s cash cow. EBay would be flat to negative without StubHub.
StubHub currently gives hundreds of millions back to eBay every year. That money should be reinvested in the business in 1) lower fees 2) better people 3) better marketing 4) improved product. We're effectively selling market share to cover eBay. Wed be much better off spun off
Stubhubers never wanted to be a part of ebay in the first place
They're not really tearing it up from a growth perspective so probably shouldn't be throwing stones. Just my opinion.
That's because we have absurd fees to cover for eBay's crumbling business. We're essentially selling market share for eBay to hit EPS targets
