Me and my wife traveled to India from US 20 days ago and got infected with COVID. We had mild fever and have recovered now, but since the test results are positive there is no chance we can travel back to US. My manager is supportive and he said I can work from India until I come back. But he doesn't know much about immigration rules. I'm on H1B and since this travel ban has no timeline, I am worried about losing employment. Has anyone else been in this situation last year? How long can I work from India? YOE - 4 TC - 180k PS: I've mailed the PayPal visa team, they said they're assessing the situation. Update - For people who have issues with English comprehension, there is no intention to travel here. This post is regarding the immigration challenges which I might face if the travel ban is not lifted for long. #workvisa #h1b #remotework #travel #counsel
Bad timing. It will be 3-4 months if not more. The tech lobby is powerful enough to clear IF THINGS ON GROUND IMPROVE.

Are you also stuck?
I don’t have any advice to offer but sorry to hear this I’m not Indian but hate that Indians and other immigrants who are super talented have to live in this constant fear due to immigration. Ugh
:(
In worst case you will have to join as Paypal India employee
Yes I am aware of this fact and considering this option. But I couldn't find any direct flights to Mexico from India. All the flights are through Europe, US, Japan etc. who have banned the transit through them. Hoping the condition gets better and these countries at least allow transit
There are ton of WhatsApp groups of people doing plan b entry.. join them there are charter flights in there as well
WTF are you blabbering on about? Dude clearly said in his OP, that he can't travel as he tested positive for COVID-19. He is not trying to sneak into the US while positive. Reading comprehension - You are lacking it.
@Intel keep your stupid opinions to yourself. OP is not saying they want to travel now. OP is sharing their immigration challenge and asking for advice once they are able to travel.
Was there a emergency which lead to this India travel? I hope everyone in your family is safe.
Everyone is safe, I travelled for stamping which was pending since my H1 was picked in October 2019 and there was a marriage
On the brighter side you have a supportive manager. Amazon policy only allows 10 days of work from outside USA.
Yeah I know, one of my friend is in similar situation. She has already expired her 10 day work from outside US and now manager is asking either to join India office or opt for loss of pay
Travel for marriage in family or someone sick?
Marriage in family
And H1B stamping pending since October 2019
An individual can work for a maximum of 6 months outside USA.
Source please? Am also looking for some info
This is false info. Two people in my team worked for more than that last year and no questions were asked. My immigration experts also didn't mention anything like that. As long as you are coming back to the states on the same job and role, you are fine.
