Current BDR at Salesforce. Looking for the next steps externally. Been here for 12 months. Is it possible to move to another company in a higher role? Perhaps, AE/AM. Maybe even CSM. Without having to do the BDR role again. Cold calling new logos has been very challenging and draining. I would love to nurture relationships instead(farmer). Looking for any sort of feedback here to be guided if possible. 2 big things I’m looking for is: 1. Better pay, specifically base. My OTE is $90k CAD. $60k CAD base 2. Not looking to grow internally. Would love to go externally. Whether it be AM/CSM/AE. Is it also wise to jump ships now considering what’s been going on in the industry: layoffs, rescinded offers, hiring freezes #sales #tech
Do you have WLB as a BDR? What do your days tend to look like? Like the comment above, I’d recommend staying and reaching AE at salesforce. Very good rep for sales and you’ll be able to hop anywhere after that.
Ya it’s been pretty chill. Working remotely. I don’t feel micromanaged to the point where someone’s telling me to hit 40 dials by 11am. Cultures actually nice and supportive. Just been very challenged being in a new logo/hunting role. Gets me questioning if I’m cut out for sales. Been trying new strats with my AEs and manager and nothing seems to be sticking. That’s why I was looking for a role that doesn’t involve much hunting. Everyone’s told me that having SF in your resume is good. So that’s great to hear! Trying to figure out how I can leverage that now

I’ve been in tech sales a long time at nearly every level and can verify you’re in a great place. I’m at SF as an AE today. I would recommend sticking it out here for another few years to learn and get an AE role. Once you get that AE role on your resume from SF, you’ll be able to choose here you go. Currently your options would be limited as a BDR outside of SF and you would likely land somewhere desperate
Okay that’s good to hear and I appreciate the feedback! But I’m not sure about staying a few years. Maybe I’m not cut out for the hunting role itself. I just feel so burned out prospecting new logos. Been trying new strats with my manager and AEs and nothings working. I don’t want to make excuses but I think my patch isn’t the greatest. Prob the reason why it’s turning me off right now. Feel kinda lost right now
