Three software engineer intern offers from Waymo, MSFT and Apple. All the work are very interesting to me. For me, the most important thing is to have a return offer and a decent full-time salary in the future. Waymo, Apple in the Bay Area, and Microsoft in Redmond. Waymo sounds cool, but I'm not sure how well it's doing right now. This year many of Waymo's top executives left. Apple and MSFT are typical big tech companies. Full-time engineers at Microsoft earn less money, but they work in Seattle and have a similar quality of life to those with $30k higher salary in the Bay Area. Do not which to choose and need advice... Thanks! Multiple votes allowed. #Facebook #Google #Apple #Amazon #LinkedIn #Microsoft #Waymo #Netflix #Uber #Meta #Alphabet
If you are most concerned with a full time offer, Microsoft converts a large portion of interns to FTE and AFAIK reserves headcount for each intern. You have to have a pretty bad internship to not get a return offer.
That's a good news, thanks!
If you can make it into waymo and so well you'll get a full-time most places. Go there to work and learn
I'm not that confident 😥
Waymo is definitely more lucrative for an internship out of those other traditional options. Waymo also rarely hires new grads out of college so an internship will definitely help you secure a full time if that’s something you’re interested in. It’s the top AV company by a long ways.. You’ll also get the Alphabet brand on your resume.
"Waymo also rarely hires new grads" Does this imply that Waymo is unlikely to provide a return offer owing to a shortage of HC for recent graduates?
It could, most of the new grads I see working are previous interns. Waymo basically never hires straight out of college unless you had an internship with Waymo (from what I see).
Finally chose MSFT. my manager (orally) ensured me a conversion to full-time... I am not a risk-taker, so I have to give up the rest.
Good for knowing yourself enough to make this decision. Good luck and congrats!
@Google Thank you for your insights and suggestions here. Good luck to you too!
Do you need visa sponsorship along with the full time position? That could sway some votes.
Even if Op does, all three companies sponsor visas
Yes I need. but as others point out all of them will sponsor.
