Folks that live in SF but work in Sunnyvale or Mountain View, how do you get back to the city if your coworkers plan an evening happy hour or something after work and it’s too late to take a shuttle home? Do you just pay $50-60 for a Lyft or are there other options?
Drive that day. Or sometimes drive day before leave car and take shuttle back that night and following night take shuttle to work and drive back. Splits up driving which when traffic was 90mins each way helped the um suffering :)
This makes sense but I’m thinking of selling my car before moving to SF so likely won’t be an option :(
sleepover
that would probably only make sense if one had a partner that worked at the same team for obvious reasons
You work for Google. Pay the $50 for Uber and just get home.
It’s usually 120. Just FYI
Get a cheap hotel in Tenderloin for that night
it’s probably worth spending a bit more to have the peace of mind you’d get from being at a slightly safer space elsewhere
The problem is opposite, IIUC. Now you can get cheap hotels in MV, but before pandemic everything was expensive except weekends. Caltrain is great option. Just need to time it right.
Use commuter pass to pay for a Lyft pool (before Covid)

Caltrain
That’s pretty weird. It seems like most people drive or take the shuttle or something
Looks like Caltrain still ends up taking like 2+ hrs right?
