What crime did trump commit?
Hi Guys, I am an AI engineer in a small startup with some initial funding. I got this job after I completed my bachelor's. This job offers me a good salary for a fresher (assume something in the range of 40L INR, in hand) while working from home. However, the major issue with this company is its work culture. Basically, it's been 1.5 years since I am here but it seems like no one in the AI team seems to work. I always used to think that AI teams basically, discuss ideas, try to implement them, and then improve on the existing ideas again and again. But here, I feel more like a support engineer. My manager is a very chill and supportive guy, but I have been working with him for a long time, and from time to time, I have felt he just doesn't have confidence in anything. He decides something, and then the next day pivot from it, and then the next day just forgets about everything. It's not just him, I think everybody in this team of 5-6 members, seems to have something else ongoing and they are just doing this job, just for the sake of it. I don't know if it is me, but this feels very weird for a startup. Plus, the age difference between me and my colleagues, along with the WFH scheme, makes it very hard for me to learn anything. I have worked really hard on a problem and I wanted to get out of this startup, with at least 2 papers. I have worked on two projects, but it seems like no one is willing to get any papers now. They have done so much in their lives, such that, they don't care about it. I, on the other hand, have started to hate ML and am thinking to shift to a new company, as an SDE or in AI. It's just that, in this layoff scenario, no one is hiring. I just don't know how to make a move. I don't know if it will be worth it. The salary cut that I would have to take as an SDE, plus if that job is too boring for me? If I want to stay in AI, these days it is just about papers and no one will hire me there. Idk if I can sustain my career in AI, without papers, and without an MS degree. What do you guys suggest? I am really stressed. I never thought, my first job will land me in so much trouble. This place has no hierarchy either. I don't know how much it matters when I'll change my job but, I just thought to mention it. Also, almost all the team members in this startup, seem to have equity and most of them joined very early. One thing, I am missing the most in this startup is that I lack that feeling of I am doing something impactful. This job has made me hate getting out of bed. Idk if it is the startup or AI. But yeah.
