I've interviewed with Amazon AWS AI org and got offer from a team for Machine Learning Engineer position. I didn't give any other interviews as I was merely planning to transfer from a Bay Area team to a Kirkland team within Google. The AWS manager really wants me in the team since my experience can be very valuable to the team as I worked on similar problems within Google. Considering my priorities like TC, work satisfaction and WLB (not as much as Google), should I switch from Google to Amazon? I'm switching to a new team at Google anyway since my wife has to work from Washington, so my promo chances are reset (though I've 2 EEs right now). Google TC: 321K (in Bay Area, L4 and maybe cliff next year) which might drop to <300K (in Kirkland) Amazon TC: 350K (1st and 2nd years, I may negotiate for more) #amazon #google
No.

Amazon rarely worth it from another FAANG. It is a good ‘first FAANG’ though
Teams in aws are usually dumpster fire. 2 SDEs have to be oncall rotation every week, high attrition and 30-40 sev2 s a week. Also, your tc increase isn't too great. Aws teams with Google-like wlb will be rare. Also MLE isn't a separate job family at amazon. It follows the same role guilines as SDE.
Ask Amazon for 450k
Why go for TC drop ? Just counting 401k, medical plan, vacation, holidays alone would make up for the TC delta.
That Tc bump is a joke. Don’t move for less than 500k
Who pays 500K for 3-4 YoE?
