YOE total 3.5 : 1 year experience in India in DS + 1.5 years hardcore DS/ML research + 1 year experience in the US. TC : 112k base + 15k sign on + 25k stocks Publications : 1 NeuRIPS (w/ best paper award in a category) + 1 minor conference both in ML/ Deep Learning research So I recently changed my jobs at the end of 2021 from healthcare consulting to Walmart/Sam's Club as a Data Scientist ( I graduated summer 2021 from MS in DS). Exactly a day after accepting the Walmart offer, I received the news of my NeuRIPS publication and at the time didn't think it changed much. I got some amazing offers in the past month after announcing the publication on LinkedIn. Considering this, seems like I was extremely low-balled by Walmart; keep in mind pre announcing publication didn't get screened much for jobs and I just wanted to get out of consulting. So far most fellow people at Sams' really like the position but it seems like they have one and only criteria which is WLB which is indeed pretty good. But there's definitely false advertising about the level of work, learning opportunities and growth. Now thinking I should try for MS Applied DS or Amazon Applied Scientist. Or should I wait and directly apply for L2/L3? Would it appear as though I'm changing too frequently, given I graduated in summer 2021 and I'm on Stem-OPT work authorization?
Fuck Walmart - go get paid
Yes, spend as little time in Walmart as possible . Your career’s more important.
Apart from MS applied Scientist, any other places I should try?
