In the interview process for an Account Manager role at AWS, currently an Azure seller. The recruiter gave me the basic overview of the Amazon benefits package. Got some questions: How much should I value Microsoft's health benefits over Amazon (in terms of $$)?? I was going to just add up the Amazon health premiums per paycheck and add a cushion (~35%) for tax Same thing with 401k match, how to match this? - seems kind of low with only a 2% match How much does Amazon contribute to an HSA? Thanks
Just something to consider-Amazon insurance is comparable to current offerings at Microsoft. No ESPP, bad 401k, no annual cash bonuses, no gym membership, no free sodas, no swag, no free parking (there is a year wait for parking in amazon buildings, so get ready to pay ~400 per month out of which 160 is reimbursed), no subsidized cafeterias. Think if a benefit you like at Microsoft .... NO. Not at Amazon. Amazon benefits are bad as compared to amazon. Would I go back to work for Microsoft despite this ... no way.
Thanks for the insight! I'm actually not based in headquarters at MSFT, but would have to relocate to Seattle for this Amazon role. So I'm not missing free swag or food. Good to hear the health insurance is comparable (assuming Amazon gives $2k in HSA per year like MSFT?). Hopefully I can still come out ahead with the overall comp to makeup the crappy 401k
I was pretty surprised to see how medicore Amazon benefits were. My first job at a small mortgage company had better benefits - they didn't have the Amazon name or RSUs though.
HSA contribution is $500, but my monthly premium (individual) is $27.
Thanks for this info, I figured it wouldn't be as much as Microsoft - at least I know what to expect
OP did you end up making the jump?
Just know that Amazon has the worst benefits of a company that size.
Well, I am expecting it to be a step down but hoping to come out ahead in comp if I can put a $$ on the difference
