How easy is it to switch teams at Apple? Would it require a full loop like an external hire?
Wtf. You let the current manager know before you get an offer? That’s messed up
Was the same at Microsoft until Satya changed it
I recently changed my org in Apple moved to iTunes. Also got few calls from maps, iclouds etc. rule is before you go to onsite you have to let your manager know. But while you are taking to other team’s recruiters you can request them to screen you technically at least one round to make sure you are technically ok for that team, that give both the parties fair understanding.
Hmm that sucks!! You have to inform your manager before attending interviews??? It’s very risky if you are not selected. It’s really great in Salesforce, I moved 4 teams in 4 years. It’s pretty easy and supportive across the org. All the best

Very difficult, worse than external candidates
Ah so same as at Microsoft. It got a bit easier now if you know the hiring manager. Otherwise, it's a full loop AND they get to see your past reviews AND if you are lucky to be hired there's NO comp change. An external hire gets a better deal
In addition, you'll have to inform your current manager that you are interviewing for different team..makes it awkward if you don't end up moving..most people try externally just in case
