Synopsys vs ampere
Synopsys offer - base 189k plus $75,000 RSU Ampere offer unknown ? Ampere offer is apparently approved and on draft mode but they are not telling me the number yet and they have kept me waiting this whole week. Synopsis recruiter is putting pressure to give them answer either accept or reject. Apparently tomorrow is last day I have to answer. Work wise I am interested in ampere but offer wise if they don’t meet synopsis then I would be disappointed. What do you think I should do here ? Should I ask ampere to give me the number at least ? Does it take so much time to generate a number now that the offer is been in draft mode ? Thanks
You should stall Synopsys for mid next week as long weekend is approaching. Let the recruiter know you are taking long weekend break and you need a day or two to think through. Let Ampere know you have a competing offer and you have to decide by tomorrow. If they really liked you then they will put their feet on gas peddle. Having more than one offer is a leverage you have, don't let that slip while you could negotiate to your best possible scenario!
Tell Synopsys you want to speak to the hiring manager one more time to get a feel for the work before you make a decision. That'll buy some time.
Already did that Synopsys offer pending since a while ..tomorrow hard deadline for synopsys to respond

That base salary is AE director level salary in Cadence.. for bay area.. not sure how u got this offer or if its fake.. since getting T6 with 7 yoe is extremely hard or almost impossible.. but u should be really happy Synopsys gave u this offer.. take it and run with it.. I should mention though Cadence T6 has 30% bonus, and Synopsys should have lower bonus what was ur base salary/total comp at cadence?

About Synopsys Vs Ampere My View : Synopsys vs ampere this is not apple to apple comparison. If you want straight grow in $; never join synopsys until you are R&D(Not AE) director. Synopsys managers are puppet without any power in hand so you will get frustrated in very short time. If your offer in AE role; straight go for ampere because Synopsys AE group jobs never stable or grow is very political dependent. My view to your situation : I would ask ampere HR to setup call with hiring manager and explain to him that you are very much interested to work with him. Tell him about your situation. Use synopsys offer as counter so they can't give anything below this or they can step back if they have $ problem but you need to force them to say they can't match your offer. Mean time inform Synopsys HR that you have some urgent family situation to handle so able to reply after one or two(max) day. Play both side with confident; but look yourself in career grow bigger picture instead of present $ difference in offer. Good Luck. NOTE : Ampere job expectation different from EAD market so your present work experience to go value for Synopsys but not same for ampere because you need to learn so much things out of EAD(this is reason ampere offer might below Synopsys but still its big future growth opportunity for you). Ampere experience will help you to go into FAANG vs Synopsys experience you will struggle a lot to get competitive offers when you wanted to get out.
Appreciate your response and help ..I got some preliminary numbers .from ampere and asked the HR to match the Synpsys base at least so then I feel satisfied
@digilover- At Cadence its not always true that R&D Director gets paid more than AE Director.. it can be similar as well.. is AE Director in Synopsys not paid very well which is why u recommend R&D Director role instead?
What level at Synopsys? You will get enough at synopsys as market is good and they are fishing for candidates.. you can tell that need 2 more weeks to get back.. they will wait..

That seems like a reasonable offer from Synopsys. I highly doubt ampere will come close to your Synopsys offer. They have a very different bonus structure and stock options. You may want to play waiting game with Synopsys and let him/her know that you’ll be meeting family for long weekend and might not have access to email or phone. Buy some time until mid next week. FYI, all national parks are closed for public in CA this weekend
