Does system design play a big role as coding rounds? Interviewed at Google and received mixed feedback from interviews, but recruiter mentioned that my SD round was good.
You need to clear the bar for both design and coding. I think you are hoping SD will make up for the mixed coding and unfortunately it won’t. Can you imagine the HC concluding with, “I thought SD was strong but coding is mixed, but since SD was so strong, let’s hire this person anyway.”?
Yes, this is exactly what I was hoping for. But it turns out this isn't the case :(
Thanks for the replies ✊ I think I got the answer that I was looking for. But I'd appreciate any additional info
How did you prepare for it?
There is a great YouTube channel with Senior Amazon developer. I think it is called "System design interview" :)
yes it’s far more important than coding rounds when you go above entry level
Not true.. I aced system design, got solution but didnt code perfectly 1 coding round, rest of coding round I aced. I didnt get offer.. still need to be perfect on all coding rounds
So, did you get to HC?
It decides largely your level, so its an important round
So you mean it will not have effect on hire/ no hire?
Ofcourse it will. If you did bad then you gonna get a no hire recommendation.
