I’m a B+ engineer and a C- employee
I am seeing a lot of egregious cases of Indians drowning in what might be otherwise considered common sense scenarios. Here are a few examples, but at regular intervals I see this. https://www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/swimming-pool-deaths-investigation-east-brunswick-new-jersey/ https://www.ndtv.com/cities/rain-tragedy-in-indore-family-washed-away-at-waterfall-461845/amp/1 https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=3nxRESWIgHw https://m.economictimes.com/nri/latest-updates/four-indians-die-in-mass-drowning-at-australias-philip-island/amp_articleshow/107131503.cms https://www.ndtv.com/india-news/out-hiking-two-indian-students-drown-at-tourist-attraction-in-scotland-5475576/amp/1 https://www.thehindu.com/news/national/andhra-pradesh/beas-river-tragedy-bodies-of-all-24-students-recovered/article6233438.ece/amp/ TC 500k Yoe 15
They don’t know swimming
One of our weaknesses is lack of common sense
Consider the indian population and then consider the number of cases vs the rest of the world. Then come and tell us if you still feel the same
Very valid point. I thought about this and don’t have numbers, but compared to those in the west it seems much higher for us as a ratio of those visiting water bodies and dying. Again, I do t have stats and this could just be law of large numbers.
Get the stats, else you're wasting your time. As far as I can tell is not a valid metric
Percent of Indians who can swim is extremely low
Indians are less likely to be able to swim. https://www.thejuggernaut.com/why-south-asian-never-learn-to-swim
Swimming should be an essential life skill taught in School along with self-defense.
Swimming used to be at my school and then they got rid of it.
This is perfect example of confirmation bias.
Access to pools is limited. Thus lessons are limited and so on. All thanks to the British.
Parents back in india don’t really instill life skills such as swimming. Would rather put their kids in art or extra study class.
Now that's some bs
