Is anyone using Charles Schwab? What strategy do you use for investing? Do you go for the managed option or mange the investment manually? If manually, which funds do you invest in? #401k #charlesschwab #morningstar
I choose the total market / S&P 500 fund regardless of the broker. I personally think target date funds are terrible and should be avoided.
Agree with SP 500 fund and avoiding target dates. It’s too much return to lose out on long term. Play with a compound interest calculator and see your current balance 20-30 years out at an approx SP 500 10-12% vs a target dates historical which is probably half. See the diff over many years and prevent that folly. Better if your 401k offers self directed brokerage and you have access to about any modern fund. Go some split of VOO and VGT for probably even better return (VGT been closer to 20%).
We use Fidelity and I opened up a BrokerageLink account to buy individual shares. In my case, I YOLO my retirement on TQQQ.
This is a terrible strategy for long term investments. Look up why leveraged funds decay over time.
Lmao, read about investments, can’t tell you how bad this is, but you will see
Fidelity Contrafund
i contribute to the match, let them do whatever, and use my money in other ways because 401k is a garbage investment strategy, but employer match is money on the table optimizing your 401k just isn't worthwhile
Yikes. It’s all money on the table. Tax advantage…
unless you have excess money that you've maxed traditional and roth ira, there is zero reason to be dumping more than company match in 401k tax advantage, sure.
