Recently interviewed for this company for Sr ML Engineer role - remote. Their process went like this Company: Clara Analytics My years of experience: 2 My current role: Lead ML Engineer in a large insuretech Offer: 160-175k + 10% bonus Day 1 - Interview with hiring manager This was ok with no red flags Day 10 - "technical" interview with their Senior Data scientist I was asked some basic python and SQL questions ez-pz Day 17~ - three separate interviews with the same data scientist from day 10 and two others. All of these interviews felt exact same and were not really trying to test anything specific and it felt random. They made me take a whole day off saying these will be the last set of rounds but the fun just begins. I started seeing some red flags already as they kept changing interview times (like atleast 5-7 times the timings were changed without even notifying me about it). They were extremely inconsiderate overall. Day 20 ~ - call with a director who hasn't even joined the company. She had no clue and I had no clue on what to talk about. Felt kinda pointless Day 22 ~: another interview with hiring manager. Same exact set of questions. Idk what the point was. Day 27 ~: Two other interviews. One with someone on C-suite and they were like "we prefer someone who works in office. Remote won't get you exposure/visibility". Day 29 ~: Technical interview with data Engineering manager. This guy was sarcastic, rude and arrogant. He started with an overly superior attitude. He had 0 understanding on what ml engineering entails and all he was asking some random technical questions. Kinda felt out of the ass. He also ended call like 30 mins early and did not give me a chance to even attempt. His ending went like "I'm busy and it's not your fault you couldn't finish cos I'm busy". At this point I was already frustrated with set of pointless interviews and lost complete interest. I also felt their overall set of projects were little boring for my taste. It kinda felt like he was cocky because I didn't come from a fancy university and I was mostly self taught. Day 31 ~: another interview with VP of Development. This guy was like a subtle version of the data Engineering manager. Had 0 understanding on machine learning lifecycle and was stuck up on expecting me knowing whatever he does. This is like the 10th interview that I had with these people and nothing came out of it. You ask how it ended? They ghosted me. No reply from them at all. I didn't even apply for this role. One of their recruiter approached me and I said ok. They had no courtesy to accept/reject me after ten 45-60 minute long pointless interviews. My overall feedback: Collosal waste of time!!! #dataanalytics #datascience #metoo

Unfortunately that's the norm. I had a similar experience at Enigma. Condescending interviewer who worked at a hedge fund and had a PhD from ages ago asking irrelevant questions and assuming priors.
