Started working in Jan last year, paid off my educational debt of 40k$, and having savings of about 50k but still feel I can do much more and need to save up. I love traveling and have travelled to almost all the national parks and major cities on budget in last 2 years, I feel at times that I need to travel less and save more, and sometimes I feel life come only once!! Confused, do you guys think i am doing good enough? Age: 29 yo
Hopefully with the new Goldman HQ being built in Victory park they will give you a big pay bump! TC of 145k seems low for Dallas
Really? Hook me up then
Where are you getting these salaries?
Traveling on a budget is awesome. Keep it up. You can have fun and save money, best of both worlds. I use credit card points and miles so you can look into that
You will regret not traveling more than not saving. You are already saving at a really good rate. Enjoy life. You only live it once
Also Dallas sucks so much that you need to travel to enjoy life
Facts
Is GS hiring?
You could leverage Dallas location and travel more as it has got very good connectivity with the rest of the US and two great airports So yeah travel more!
Youâre doing great. Find a starter home and put down some money in it. You can live in it for a year as primary residence (get roommates if not married) then rent it out if life takes you elsewhere
50k saving/year is great, especially for you income level. And it's okay to live your life a little, at the end of the day, you're only young once. I would only recommend maxing out all the tax-advantage accounts first before you start saving cash. Invest in real estate or safe ETFs. Only keep the emergency fund in cash, that way you can make sure your money works for you.
You're good. I've been working since 2016 and my TC in dallas is 200k. If you just started working you're perfectly fine. Dallas isn't LA. Salaries are lower
What do you do?
You are fine!
He is not fine. He needs to increase his TC 10x, while being frugal, save save and save so he can die rich.
