Age: 25 Years of Experience: 2.5 Company: Facebook Title: Enterprise Engineer Level: L3 Base Salary: $125k TC: $160k 1. How low is my TC compared to other engineers with similar yoe at tier 1 companies (FANG and peer companies)? 2. How is my TC compared to software engineers in silicon valley is a whole? I got into Facebook a year ago but into a role they call enterprise engineer which they treat as lower-tier engineer comp-wise. I think it's still good pay for the bay area but not nearly as good as the what SWE and production engineers get. (Apparently data engineers are also considered lower tier comp-wise). I've read the recent /r/cscareerquestions salary sharing threads and even new grads @ FB have higher comp than me.
What do you do as enterprises engineer?
125k won’t cut it in the bay area
TC is $160k. That’s livable.
I actually send $2000/month back home to my parents too. Very little savings though.
I make 120k base and send $3000/month to my NRE. How much rent do you pay ?
Can’t you interview for swe internally?

Did they give you any sign on bonus ? I know a friend who got 50k sign on bonus for L3 enterprise engineer. Base they usually try to match with your previous company
It was a year ago but I was able to negotiate base up from $115 to $125. I asked the recruiter for a larger sign on bonus initially but he said $40k-$60k was unrealistic and they he would probably come back with <$20k. I ended up with a $15k sign on bonus. Maybe I should have pushed harder.
It depends on how your interview as well and how desperate they want to hire you.
