how much do you guys pay for rent as % of your base comp or TC? with WFH here to stay im thinking of upgrading to a better place. currently paying 2600 for studio in NYC Base / TC: 150 / 275 YOE: 3
0%
UBS pays that much?
It's an investment bank. It should
rent = x (1BR SF), base = 55x, TC = 115x. Pretty similar to your balance, actually.
Following ^Google's format x, 156x, 257x
Are you sharing the rent with someone?
10% of base, couples discount, Manhattan I've got student loans though. Also will likely upgrade when my lease is up to around 13%, again with couples discount
How....
I stayed at the same apt (love it, great neighborhood, just enough space, landlords aren't a-holes) for 4 years and they barely raise rents so I'm paying 2016/2017 prices I guess. Also couples discount is a huge huge difference. Splitting 1br vs your own 1br or studio..
5% of TC (120) for rent, have roommates in HCoL area. Before that though I had a 300sqft studio for $2k a month 🙄
Nice - socal?
Bruh
I paid $2900 for a beautiful 1 bedroom + loft den 2mins from Central Park
My rent is 15% of my TC aka 31% of my take home pay
27% of base before taxes, deductions, etc. in Chicago, live alone in a nice neighborhood close to downtown with a view of the lake.
How many dates have you invited over to show them the view of the "lake"?
as little as possible while living comfortably.
