Say 10 to 50 people startup, with around 10-50 million investment. I understand majority of the salary will be in RSU. But how much cash would they pay? Just curious.
That’s a wide range on the headcount and capital raise side. If you take lower bound on both, i would say 200k TC. Upper bound I would say 300-350k TC. If you’re debating between this and a FAANG role in terms of TC, you’re doing it for the wrong reason. You’ll learn about everything at a small startup, whereas you’re going to be more experienced in the nuance of a certain field at a large company. There’s more upside at a small startup (comes with more risk obv), but the experience and tools you’ll gain are invaluable.
Thanks, makes sense
I can provide one data point - the CEO (founder) of our series a (~10mil in investment) tech startup was drawing 220k/yr back in 2016.
Thanks 😊
should be at least a million. 200 in cash the rest in stock (presumed value at exit)

180-220 base wouldn't be unusual for a startup that had its round A (or early round B).
That's assuming it's a tech startup, though. This is the high-end of that scale.
That's pretty low. Compared to what a senior engineer at a FAANG would get.
