Expecting an offer from ARM and AMD
I got a verbal offers from both ARM and AMD and waiting for the the numbers from both. How much can I expect? Also which of these would be better in present market?#hardware #semiconductor MS+ 5yoe

Go to arm if pay is comparable. Amd is only good during joining, next refreshers.will be 🥜
How bad are the refreshers?
As compared to peers , very bad, as there is no fixed refresher target amount as per garde. the budget comes to the manager, distributes it accordingly. Hence very unpredictable.

I'm currently at AMD, but I think ARM will offer more. You can expect senior at Arm and MTS at AMD. Refreshers for g4 at Arm are ~80k now, while at AMD MTS they'll be around 50-60k. Shoot for 180k base at Arm (no bonus) and 170k base at AMD (15% bonus but this hasn't been met previous two years). WLB is comparable between the two, but vacation and benefits are better at Arm. These are for the Austin offices, by the way

OP has only 5 YOE of experience. Even with the new pay structure, there's very little probability that they will get anything over 150k at Arm. It'll mostly be between 150k - 160k. You can try to negotiate for more but this had been their current range for people with 7 YOE. @OP, if you got a competing offer, you can tell Arm. They will give you the numbers immediately.
