TN Visa - Change of employer

Hi, I am a Canadian on TN visa in States. I'll be starting a new job in December. They sent me a TN package and asked me to go 10 days before to the border (so ideally last week of Nov). I want to give notice only after I got my new TN visa. My end date would be November starting as I have some personal work in Canada. Can I go a month ahead of the start date to the border and get a TN visa for new job? Is Form I-129 the safe way to go in this case? I'm confused and stressed. Please advice.

Are you guys doing it at the border? or I-129?

They won't give you TN one month ahead. If the lawyers did your TN application package, I won't worry too much about getting denied. The important thing about TN is that you should have no immigration intent.

ok, thank you just stressed about giving notice and waiting for 3 weeks without visa for the new job. I dont know I-129 is any better since it has pre-approval.

I-129 in generally better, they generally don’t seem to scrutinize USCIS’ adjudication at the border.
