Not looking to join, but literally asking for a friend. They’ve been around for what, 10 years now? No sign of going public it seems. How is the culture and pay for some senior engineer interested in joining?
I interviewed with them, got a good impression of their tech. Seems like good/supportive culture and modern cloud architecture
Could you elaborate a little about their interviewing process and questions?
I don't remember much but I do remember the "design" interview was pretty much thinking about the object/database models of one aspect of their backend services. Think how to ship the glasses to the store and inventory etc. Very practical and I enjoyed that interview. I don't remember hardcore leetcode style stuff, their focus was on if you have the skills to build web apps.
WLB is very very good. People are chill and work is rarely stressful with very supportive teams. Comp is okay but nothing to write home about. No bonuses really and equity is not incredible. I’m a senior engineer making 155k base and 150k equity. 190k TC
Just curious, why is Warby Parker considered more of a tech company than other eyewear companies?
Is it? I know they have big valuation but there is nothing tech about it hence I personally don’t expect comp better than at Macy’s
There are a handful of retail companies that hire tons of software engineers for some reason. I’ve seen quite a few SWE postings for Warby Parker but never seen one for like Macy’s. Another that comes to mind is SSENSE in Canada. I just wanna know what they’re all up to 😩
