I have a job offer from Apple as ICT2 QA engineer. The role responsibilities seem like a big downgrade from my current role (SOC design) and I don’t want to get shoehorned into QA roles for the rest of my career, but I want to break into a FAANG. Wondering if I should keep looking or take the job. Offer: 140k + 90k/4 RSUs Current TC: 150k Yoe: 3
You shouldn't move into QA , don't let the company tag influence you. You can move into a dev position in a FAANG later
You can still enter as QA and switch to different roles.
Don’t move as ICT2. Apple offers that to fresh undergraduates. You are being down leveled. Also, I won’t recommended QA if you want to go to Dev.
What’s your educational background? PhD? Masters? From tier one schools? Also are you in some niche domain ?
Just bachelors, went to Michigan, not niche domain
It’ll be hard to negotiate then with just 3 yoe. I’d take the offer. Long term you might want to get out of QA though. May be do a masters or something,
