Series C, not quite unicorn but very nearly ($500mil-$1 bil at last eval). Offer is: 210k base Chance for %8 bonus based on company perf 12k shares (guessing $10 profit at ipo) Looking at good growth over the next couple years Current comp at Walmart 155k base 20% bonus 45k RSU/yr vesting 25%/yr So current tc in real terms is 230-250k today Both senior SWE positions so just a lateral move Edit: comments about reasons why yes or no are much appreciated! :)
YOLO. Join before it becomes a 🦄
the base is more than your TC now. why wouldn’t you take it? impossible to judge the equity, you didn’t give enough info
Large bonuses, chill WLB, I have a lot of RSUs nearing vesting time
those are not factors you described in your post. based on TC now and the offer, take it. based on other factors, 🤷♂️ large bonuses against a small base is a game. just add it together. who cares if the cash part is in the form or salary or bonus (that you have to wait for)
What’s the equity %? YOE? Obviously big jump in base although Walmart is seriously low balling you
I don’t know the % equity. I’d assume not very much considering the last funding round was like 200$ mil for series c.
I’ve been at Walmart for like three years, I started with 3 YOE. So senior then senior now with a bout 6 YOE. Take that how you will (why are promos so hard to get?)

The end of Backdoor Roth?!
Take that offer as fast as you possibly can
Mind telling me your reason why??
Your long term upside is much higher and you gain experience in a more dynamic environment, which can actually be more challenging in ways. Big companies are a decent place to launch your career but you should try to move on from that eventually since their growth will slow over time and they’ll become more bureaucratic.
