Have a friend who just finished his BS in Comp Sci and landed this from Tata Consultancy Services Limited (TCSL): Base $69,400 Max annual bonus (6.5%) $4511 Relocation $2,000 (it's a remote role for now but they still offered this) Location - Southern California I have no background on Tata, he doesn't have competing offers or any full time work experience (just one unpaid internship in a city job before graduating). I'm also assuming they are listing the max annual bonus, not a typical payout. I'm thinking he should just take it as is. I don't know how he could negotiate for more. Just do this job for 2 years and then start looking for a new role with more TC
Don’t do it man
Bro doesn't have other offers, it's only been 4 months from graduation so I thought it was better than nothing. At least he gets experience right?
You means TCS ? If so, it’s fine for 1 to 2 years if he/she doesn’t have any other offers. But don’t forget your friend is going to deal with lot of indian managers. Fyi, I’m an Indian.
Yes that's what I'm thinking too
It's one of the big service based companies Orignated in India. High job security and very good work life balance
Job security? Yes. Work life balance? Totally depends on the team and manager. Not always the case. (Mostly no balance though)
Oh some of my office folks from India worked there They told me that they were mostly sitting idle during their time in Tata
He should be able to do better with an internship, but if he’s financially struggling, I would take Tata and keep looking. It looks better to job hunt when you’re employed and it’s better to start getting work experience sooner than later.
That was my thought too
Tata What? Consultancy Services, Communications, Motors???? This is like saying they got an offer from GE.
Sorry it's Tata Consultancy Services Limited (TCSL). I'll update the main post
Ask him to Take it and run, meanwhile he can always lc and look for better opportunities, but I agree tc is bit low for Socal , but better than no offer
Tell him to accept it and LC hard on the side & apply to other companies and switch when he gets something better.
Sounds like a good plan
That’s what I am doing in process
I wouldn’t unless your friend is hurting financially. Once they take this job they’ll be off market for all hiring events focusing on new grads, but won’t have enough experience to land a non fresher role since tata churns out code you wouldn’t want to admit you wrote-it will be hard to fill a resume
That TC is too low and he’ll be miserable! Tell your friend to apply for defense. Boeing is ok. Ranges 70-90k entry level with good WLB. Sadly no remote work though
What’s Tata?
Updated the post, it's for TCSL - Their consulting practice
