TC : 70k USD (56 LPA INR) YOE : 4 It's been 1 Year as SDE-II at Amazon and I am really tired of working here. I am looking out for job change in tech/fintech companies with better WLB (India/Remote). There is cut-throat competition in my team and people are working 10+ hours and late nights to impress management. That has raised the bar too high and I am not cut out to work like this. I am not saying I want really high TC and don't want to work at all. I am even ready to take upto 20% paycut for good mental-health and family-time along with satisfying work. I have shortlisted some companies after research on blind/glassdoor/blogs. Please comment name of your company if they provide fair compensation with good WLB. My target companies - If you are here, please confirm whether these companies offer WLB and decent TC: --Tech #Google #Apple #Microsoft #LinkedIn #Uber #Atlassian #AirBnB #Nvidia #Adobe #Netflix #Dropbox #Salesforce #Square #Lyft #Twilio #ServiceNow #Directi #Akamai #Spotify #Cisco #Indeed #Cred --Fintech #Mastercard #Visa #MorganStanley #Paypal #Intuit This is not a cringe tier-list but I need genuine help to decide which companies to consider for future. I want to stay in it for long-term (5+ years) and enhance my skill-set as well. Please refrain from trolling and commenting "ANY COMPANY > AMAZON" #tech #softwareengineer #sde #sdet #techcareer #faang #layoff #layoffs #meta
Atlassian, LinkedIn
Thanks for the info man. Do you know of any more such companies that are not in above list? It will really help me to put focus on getting interviews for them alone.
Wow is it just your team in Amazon or in most of the teams? This sucks man… I am looking out same as u for good wlb. Things have become toxic and morale reduced.
Which company?
I am not sure why things are such, but couple of reasons come to mind- 1. Stack ranking 2. Fear of being put on focus 3. Management encouraging late night work and burnout Before Amazon I was in a fintech with good WLB. That allowed me flourish and being excited about my work. I even got promoted in just 1.5 Years as a fresher.
ANY COMPANY > AMAZON
That's obvious. Let's move past that now. Care to name some companies that are not in the list? 😔
Dell
DM for PayPal if you find anything relevant
DM for ServiceNow
IBM
Hi OP. How is it going?
OP, is your Amazon org having vacancies for Sde2?
Salesforce, Atlassian, Expedia, Linkedin, Indeed, ServiceNow, Adobe. Also, in these wlb companies, avoid the team if your manager is from uber/amazon/startup.
Google , Cisco and Salesforce generally have great WLB. Fintech all the ones you mentioned i have atleast one person i know working there and they also have good WLB .
Thanks for confirming. I have only mentioned some fintech, for others reviews were not that good. But I think they will not be as bad as Amazon. Would you like to name some which are not in the list?
Workday, PANW (Palo Alto) , Arista , SAP (dont pay well) , DocuSign(not sure about then after this downturn) but they all have good WLB and yes i do see Adobe and SNOW in your list they are good too.
