I’m thinking of moving to Indeed but I wanted to check how good the tech is. How is dev happiness there? Do you use Git/GitHub and open source tooling? It bothers me how much of FB tooling barely works or plain doesn’t work… TC ~144k gbp
Do you like RabbitMQ? Since they don't use Kafka. Also they used Java for Frontend (gateway)
indeed is slower but has better wlb and culture than say facebook
I hear they don't have much in terms of native mobile development. I think it's mostly webviews.
Tech is incredibly bad. We just started to migrate to cloud infrastructure last year. Yes, in 2020. We use really badly built homegrown tools to get A/B testing done which is the only way we measure impact. These tools may have been appropriate for a company 5% the size but is leading to inaccurate data and political conflicts at the current company size because it can't properly handle numerous tests being run simultaneously. It's a big problem when 10+ teams want to run multiple tests on the same page. A lot of our internal tooling is dependent on integrations with Jira. I am not fucking kidding you with this. Jira is part of the company culture. Regarding mobile app development, there is nearly zero native app work done. It's all WebViews besides navigation and notifications. This is chiefly because all the homegrown A/B testing tools and development processes were exclusively web focused and that this company doesn't have the culture to be willing to change to new ways of doing things (as seen from avoiding cloud infrastructure until 2020).
