Currently located in FB Seattle, thinking of relocating to Atlanta. Questions : 1. What tech companies can I look forward to joining over there ? Please only mention companies that can compete with FB in terms of pay. 2. Does FB adjust salary if it's a team change with me being in office in Atlanta, not remote. 3. Any idea of how comp differs between Seattle and Atlanta in general ? Some examples would be appreciated. tc - 430k #tech #faang #facebook #amazon #apple #netflix #google #microsoft #salesforce #uber #linkedin #airbnb #lyft #pinterest #roblox #dropbox #stripe #databricks #roku #snap
Also keep in mind Georgia has state income tax when Washington does not
yeah, that is why I thought moving to Atlanta might not be wise, reduced pay + additional tax
But much lower cost of living. You can actually get a very good house in Atlanta suburb for 500k
Google?
OP send me a DM. We're hiring a bunch in ATL and will be out next major tech hub. Pay is competitive too

What do you think is wrong with a kid who got rejected by 9 colleges?
Atlanta is much lower COL and you can expect at least a 25% reduction in pay, probably more like 40%, for the same role and level. No SWE role in Atlanta is going to compete with FB/Seattle unless you get lucky in an early unicorn.
Is it really a 25% difference ? I can understand housing being cheap, but what about everything else ? Is it actually 25% cheaper ?
Yes. On total household income of about 200k I was easily able to afford 7br/7ba home on an acre of land, expensive cars, and lots of leftover money for random stuff. Try that in Seattle.
