Tech in Bay,India and everywhere else feels like a JEE Exam. Everyone working to solve Leetcode, TC chase, no real products delivered. And guess what we all are happy living a complacent and a comfortable life building stupid and useless react apps etc. For non Indian folks: JEE is an entrance exam for colleges in India.
Kuch sikhi sharmaji ke ladke se
Not Indian, but I am Chinese, and I think both our cultures’ education systems optimize for test taking. So the focus on LC kinda makes sense for us. If anything it kinda resembles the role the Chinese imperial civil service exams played in ancient China: the subjects were in classical literature, which isn’t all that practical, but if you passed it gave you a big leg up in society. Likewise LC doesn’t have much to do with day to day programming, but getting good at it can reap big financial and career rewards. And so IMO, for most devs, the game is worth playing. Which leaves what ultimately is as big if not a bigger problem: being good at tests only doesn’t give one a creative or flexible mind, which is ultimately a bigger indicator of long term success in tech. That has to be dealt with. It’s nice to get in but what happens afterwards?
Who gives a shit, I just want more tc
Ya. Lc does nothing for society but dumbass companies want to use that as the main indicator and I need a job so.
