Tech is dead and it's never coming back

The news of Meta layoffs is the second-last nail in the coffin and Google's incoming layoffs in the following weeks is the last nail (friends there tell me the internal Blind is freaking out and Google has implemented Amazon-style 12% PIP). Tech is officially dead as a lucrative career path. Prepare for a decade of 100k L3, 250k L5. Meta will not even exist as a company by 2030 and Google will be the new IBM. It will take decades for a new company to take the throne and it will probably be some lame ass crypto shit or mass surveillance. Facepalm. One thing is salaries not continuing to grow and even erode due to inflation but another is decrease altogether.

Snowflake sweslave1 OP Nov 6, 2022

Why won't salaries decrease? Is it in the constitution that these pay bands must stay where they are forever? Just like there was upward pressure driving TC up in recent years, there will be massive downward pressure driving TC down in the years to come. 1 year ago if you said Meta would be down 73% everyone on Blind would shit on you. Now look where we are. It's over.

There was a time when type writers were highly paid and it was considered a very high ranking job. Do you see anymore type writers?

Isn't Google's 12% not a true PiP but more of a Focus plan?

Snowflake sweslave1 OP Nov 6, 2022

Focus has two outcomes: (1) PIP (2) work so hard that you destroy your own life and wish you were PIP'd

Robinhood hugggjn Nov 6, 2022

Northrop Grumman Plai88 Nov 6, 2022

Good question maybe stock numbers

Snowflake urlame Nov 6, 2022

It’s so funny to see these 20-30 year olds in tech go through their first round of layoffs 😂 Bro just like how you’re fat af, so are these companies, you have to lose weight sometimes

Stripe ofjJndnBb Nov 6, 2022

Seems like it was just yesterday that the same crowd was asking why would anyone need an emergency fund in an HYSA or similar when they can just borrow against TQQQ on margin from Robinhood.

Meta iHns28 Nov 6, 2022

😂😂 gen z is quite fucked with their stupidity

Netflix benzene Nov 6, 2022

As long as my TC is highest in those stupid Blind TC polls, I dont care about the absolutely number

Google samsh45 Nov 6, 2022

250K as an L5 gets you a VERY comfortable life..I wouldn't call that tech being dead

Snowflake sweslave1 OP Nov 6, 2022

250k is only 2x the poverty line in the Bay Area. You will NEVER own property with 250k.

Google samsh45 Nov 6, 2022

First of all, Bay Area is a tiny part of the US as a whole.. No one is forcing you to stay in this shithole. Secondly, the reason property prices have been crazy in Bay Area is because of the inflated tech salaries. As they go down, so will housing prices.
