Bloomberg knows jack about how much people are paid.
No shit. I enjoy people complaining about tech workers being overpaid, when they make a fraction of law/finance/medicine
Lawyers aren't doing that well nowerdays. Only ones from top school are doing well. Half of those with law degree can't find job in law at all and end up working odd jobs.
I’m fine with the ones who work in a career where people DIE if you screw up getting paid more.
Doctors on average have always made the most in the US. Software pay is way more bimodal and the lower concentration can be quite a bit lower. But the sheer number of high paying jobs and lower bar for entry into the industry makes it an employee’s market. Sellside finance, pay distribution is logarithmic and extremely top heavy. Buyside finance there are just very very few jobs to fill and it’s arguably more difficult than anything else to break into both from a technical and prestige background perspective. Law pay just sucks given the investment unless you’re in the tiny tiny majority at the top. Idk how consulting is like paywise.
What I sellside and buyside
Banking vs quant fund.
Lmao the top 10 are like 9 different kinds of doctors and CEO. Of course those professions make more than the average code monkey, the barrier to entry is far FAR higher.
It takes 15 years to become a doctor and then years to pay off loans. You can retire in 15 years as an SWE...
The average doctor hardly makes more than that of FANG. primary care around 200K, neurosurgeon around 500K (roughly senior staff pay). Lawyers: average lawyer way less than FANG but work twice as much. Also anyone can work for FANG, but it is much harder to be a doctor. On the flip side, the average FANG engineers job is pretty mundane, while ER doctors, trauma surgeons, major crime prosecutors etc have a much more exciting job.
More exciting but also more stressful
Fair enough but isn’t a 9-5 life And watching Netflix with spouse boring!
Does bloomberg pay better than faang?
Not FANG, make more than median doctors, no student loans and don't have to carry malpractice insurance.
They are obviously missing a job called SDE on Blind, which has a median income 10x of the top.
