Tech that can easily be copied are getting hammered

Facebook turns out to be easily copied and was effectively copied by TikTok and Snap: HAMMERED Netflix turns out to be easily copied and was by a half dozen streaming companies: HAMMERED I think we will see this story repeat a few more times.

If you think these companies (or many many others) are relying on tech so unique that no one can REPLICATE it .... Then you're mistaken.

Facebook is still a monopoly when it comes to social media. It is the de facto ways to communicate and connect with people you know. TikTok is more a competition to YouTube than to Meta.

It is about competitive advantages. Facebook and Netflix had competitive advantages but did not defend them or could not defend them. They are gone or waning now. They are both trying to regain new competitive advantages. Facebook is trying to become the dominant metaverse platform and Netflix is trying to become a first-tier media studio. You can disagree with their strategy or think they're ham-fisted or misguided, but they are rolling forward either way.
