Technical Interview Help

My dream is to work at Google some day. I started my career in the restaurant and non-profit industries and switched into tech by completing a boot camp. I'm now 4 years into my career and I feel behind. I know I shouldn't compare myself to others and I also know that it takes me longer to grasp technical concepts, but I still have this feeling that I should be farther along technically. I have a good job now, I'm very thankful. It affords me to live comfortably and travel when I want and buy the things I need and want. My work hours are flexible and I don't personally find the work super demanding of my time outside of regular work hours. BUT, I'm comfortable. And I know in order to actually grow my technical skills as a developer I know I need to get a job outside of Fin"Tech" and be more challenged. However, I keep failing technical interviews - that I believe I should be passing for my "level". What other methods are there to study / understand these difficult concepts. I just feel like there are gaps in my knowledge. Even when algorithms are explained on Youtube I find the answers unnatural and don't think I would come up with that solution on my own. I've looked into Interview Kickstart to see if it's worth it but I think I would benefit from more of an instructor-lead / mentor approach. - Studying preparation: AlgoExpert, Youtube, LeetCode, CTCI book - 2 interviews: rejected for failing technical problems (then stopped interviewing bc of failures) #engineering #technicalinterviews #software #swe

CTCI is shit. It won't get you anywhere. Start with the course below and then master the data structures. You will be way way better off in 3 months than using CTCI Course: https://www.educative.io/courses/grokking-coding-interview-patterns-python Thank me later

You will be better off if you stop comparing yourself to others. Donโ€™t just be another rat in the rat race. You could do 1000 LC problems and still fail a FAANG interview. It sounds like you have a good gig, try to enjoy life outside of work more and connect more with people around you.

Even when algorithms are explained on Youtube I find the answers unnatural and don't think I would come up with that solution on my own. <โ€”- Omkar at interview kickstarter is best at dealing with this but you wonโ€™t get classes by him, just recordings , whether it is good enough or not is up to you
