Started a no name FTE recently (about 1 month in) that is just mildly interesting and decent in wlb. But the work environment is slow and seems unstructured. Contractor from TekSystems reached out about a Solutions Engineer contracting position at Facebook. About $50-$60/hr W-2 without benefits. Work is about internal tools for data analysis on ads. Drop the slow, no name FTE for contracting position?
Unless you are a contract hitman or so, contracting position is always not good, everyone look down on you, pay is not good and no benefits. Even got excluded from company party.
Being a contractor at Google or Facebook is still pretty good for a new grad. There's definitely a bit of a status thing I guess, but you still get free food and can learn a lot and shine if you want to.
In Apple we don't even allow contractors to put Apple on their resume.
50-60 /hr omg
FB contract sounds great if you can do a year or two more then find something long term there or at Google etc
FTE at a mediocre tech company is bad, being a contractor at Facebook is better. Contractors can convert to FB FTE and will have only 2-3 interviews instead of 5 interviews for everyone else. And don't listen to Google, they give contractors red badges, they are racists and hypocrites. While at FB all FTE and contractors have the same badge color.
Hmm, can you explain the different interviews? what are the 2-3 you would take instead of 5? And are you sure?
Are you allowed to put FB on your resume even if it's a contractor?
Has anyone moved from fte to w-2 2 year contract?

Do you have kids? What is your TC at current job?
new grad. TC at fte is significantly lower than contract
Then I'd say go to contract at FB and sign up for One Medical.
