Tesla AP lane merge issue
My Model S attempted to merge into a lane when another car in my blind spot was trying to merge into the same lane at the same time. Disengaged AP and aborted lane merge. Any other Tesla drivers seen this issue? If someone from the Tesla AP team is reading this, focus on coarse sampling of image sensor data for collision detection. You probably donāt need 30fps, 5fps will do. You donāt need 1080 x 1080, sparse 400x 400 will do. The whole image doesnāt need to be fed to your CNN, a sparse/coarse high rate sampled image will do. Keep your e2e latency below 0.2s
Why abort? Let it crash and start a class action lawsuit.

It tries to merge and when the refresh of data from sensor occurs in its internal memory. It will abort merge or correct the error. This will be a close call and the car will sway in and out of lane. Happens to me every now and then. It is scary but you dont get into a accident.
In my case, it proceeded with merge. Two cars merging into same spot, mine about 4ft ahead of the other. I was watching carefully and manually aborted in the last minute.
Wtf is this response?? How's this normal in anyway?

Easier said than done. What was the position of the other car and yours? Who was further into the lane? You said you were 4ft ahead? 4ft ahead doesn't lead to collision? Was the other car slowing down during the merge to allow more distance between the cars? Probably you were more conservative than the AP
The other driver in a pickup didnāt notice me merging. I had to abort. Both of us trying to merge, so I guess both pointing into merge lane at an angle? Front of Pickup and front of my car separated by ~ 4ft , perhaps less, in direction of travel. Side to side separation about 8ft and closing fast. Pickups front would have have collided with my rear driver side door.
