Tesla Termination
I gave my notice at Tesla and they basically let me go that same day because I was moving to a competitor. However, they convinced me that they were gonna just mark me as on “PTO” and pay me through the end of my notice period. So I agreed, but today received an email from HR stating my exit date as the day I was let go. Tesla owes me a severance right? Did they just spin the the PTO BS to avoid that cost to company? I am so annoyed and not sure what to do. Any advise? #Firing #severance #termination
This is why you don’t tell your current employer where you’re headed when the time comes. They don’t need to know and there’s nothing requiring you to tell them.
that’s why you sign the state agreement of “at will employment”
Did they mark you as terminated? Clearly you resigned, but it would be scummy if they altered records on their end.
Yeah, They marked and called it “Termination notification” which is BS because I sent over my letter of resignation the day before that notice

They're going to pay you out your accrued PTO anyway (if you have unlimited PTO, then you're screwed). However, you miss out on other benefits, which is why they fired you.

If you are salary, you should be paid the full 2 weeks unless stated in a hand book, no pto since unlimited, your healthcare should run through the end of the month unless stated in a hand book.

I’m heading out soon too. After going through all car launches the company culture isn’t what I want to be a part of. Ridiculous deadlines from executives and elon that make no sense. Constant change in direction. Complete lack of empathy and shit pay.

I think if they just let me go, without offering all this fishy extra PTO stuff- I would get it. Cuz I know Tesla is atwill employer but I know people who have got 2 months severance and stuff
