Is a Tesla (model 3 performance with autopilot, more specifically) worth it in the San Francisco City? At what TC would you be comfortable getting one? Asking in terms of monthly payments, limited charging stations, limited parking etc. TC: 210k YOE: 2
Is it replacing another vehicle or will it become your only vehicle? A ~50k car in SF at 210k TC is definitely do able, but certainly not a necessity. Unless you enjoy driving and treat your vehicle as a hobby, I would go for something a bit cheaper
You're fine at 210K TC. Don't get one if you don't have charging at home. > Limited Parking You will probably still use uber or rail to go downtown, FYI. If cost is a concern, you don't have to get the Performance version. Long range w/autopilot is probably the best bang for the buck.
Why would you want an electric car that isnt for a daily commute? You never going to drive to Tahoe or la?
It's important to note that electric cars have waaaaaay less maintenance than gasoline cars. So that $50k sounds like a lot but when you're only replacing tires every few years and brake pads, you're gonna save a lot in the long run compared to a cheaper gas car
Because of regen braking you won’t be replacing any brake pads until over 100k miles (assuming you don’t track the car). The maintenance on a Model 3 is “as needed”
Just make sure you get a 2019 car bc Tesla is delaying registration of cars so that they can resell returned lemons as news cars. It’s a shady company. Buyer beware

Not sure I’d get one unless I could charge it every night at home. SuperCharging is not good for the battery. Does your place have an outlet?
