Depends on how fast Waymo can innovate tech, and capture data at scale. Not to mention the need to also better refine the industrial design of the tech to appeal to mass market consumers, and third party manufacturers. Feels like TSLA has the industrial design and scale piece nailed heavily at the mo. Canât help but see this battle being very similar to the iPhone vs Android battles over the yearsâG is always two steps behind.
How good is Tesla autopilot? While google may be better on paper, Tesla have thousands if not millions of cars generating data for their autopilot software.
It is an illusion that Tesla can get more data.
Tesla is pretty good as a car sure, but when it comes to fully autonomous cars, they aren't yet there. Waymo is definitely way better and already proven, Millions of miles tested in all weather and road conditions and already public launched in AZ. Waymo tech is going to lead the world of autonomous driving!
But thatâs the problem, Waymo is only good for specifically mapped locale, put a Waymo in the middle of butfuck nowhere America and it would not be able to operate until mapping had been fully completed. Compare that to Tesla, they have and are capturing data worldwide from areas as remote as the mountains of Austria to all major cities from across the world. Canât help but feel that the race for them right now is purely on the image recognition, they have all of other basis covered.
How much of the mobility market is in buttfuck nowhere? Launching a fully autonomous product without hd maps and remote monitoring is dangerous and Tesla has already killed multiple people by driving them full speed into stationary objects. I donât get people criticizing Waymo for doing it safely.
Waymo is already launched and will continue to launch city by city. Carefully, methodically. It will appear like Waymo is going to win the battle. Then... out of nowhere TSLA will release worldwide.
Waymo will win. One area Elon is consistently overestimates is AI/ML/Robots>humans. Almost caused model 3 production to bring the company to its knees before admitting humans are underrated
G is good at demo new tech, but will never deliver any dominant product with HW involved. Will see.
I think waymo business model is selling the self driving software to other car manufacturers?
must be a slow news cycle
I like Tesla, but I donât believe they can beat google in artificial intelligence. Google is still the power house in that area
