Test role TC evaluation
Hi all, I have been offered SE in Test role in California. Currently working in Dallas as a developer. Dallas TC 97k California TC 120k base, stocks 4 yrs, 18k relocation + sign on, 12% bonus I am an entry-level developer. Should I take this package for test role? If so, is switching to development roles in future difficult? Or should I stay in development position. Please advise. Thank you!
Well I have worked as SDET, it's not bad. They have their own set of challenges. But I felt it difficult to switch from sdet to sde. Internal transfer would be easy, but switching to another company is a hassle.

Yes, Dev over test anytime unless you have some trouble in your current position/company and seek for change NOW. speak to someone at the company, how easy is it to switch from sdet to sde there. It depends on company's culture. Some frown upon it.
It’s ok - ish for entry level but really not much. Where in California? Do you have a family? If so, gonna be tough
No family, Santa Clara. Want to later try to switch to dev positions though. Is that possible?
Depending on the company, team and most importantly your manager. But it sure is possible What company is your offer from?
