Dear Friends, I have an opportunity to join Red Hat as a technical solution architect in commercial sales team. I have finished all interviews and the remaining one is a presentation to hiring manager but I have another offer and I need to ask some questions which may give me insights should I wait to Red Hat final interview & offer which may take 2 weeks or excuse and accept the offer on hand. 1- Is Commercial sales team and good team to join at Red Hat & is this team have good offers in terms of salary and benefits? 2- What about the stability , lay off and hiring freeze inside Red Hat and how much it is affected by the current situation & if it is a good time to join Red Hat? 3- How about the work life-balance at this team? 4- How is the benefits works there, is it full salary or basic plus commission depending on sales and target? 5- I do appreciate also if anyone can tell me the cycle of commercial sales inside Red Hat. Thanks a lot for your support. #redhat #presales #sales #openshift #hiring #interview

Sorry if this reply came too late, but it's probably still worth posting my perspective as I spent a number of years at RH. 1- Is Commercial sales team and good team to join at Red Hat & is this team have good offers in terms of salary and benefits? So, RH is big... 20k big, and because of that sales is divided up into a number of compartments all with very specific names that mean specific things. In particular you are using the term "commercial sales" which calls out a specific group of sellers. in late 2021 RH went through a massive restructure where they merged their mid-market sales teams with their enterprise sales teams. The newly merged sales org adopted the name Enterprise to mean their big customers and Commercial as their lower producing accounts. If you are indeed applying for the Commercial sales team, it would then depend which Region you are applying for and each of those has their own "quirks" depending on what you are looking for. 2- What about the stability , lay off and hiring freeze inside Red Hat and how much it is affected by the current situation & if it is a good time to join Red Hat? hmmm, this is a tough one. In my time there I never saw anyone "fired" from RH sales without it being a VERY egregious offense. That being said, RH didn't have a very good 2022, and based on the quotas I've heard being given out this year, it's not looking much better. I left because I saw RH becoming yet another megacorp and I had an opportunity to change gears, so I did. If you are coming from a bigger megacorp (IBM, Oracle, Microsoft) I think you might join RH and feel like it's really amazing. it really just depends on your perspective. I started back in the hayday when we had freedom to just go do amazing work. Those freedoms have slowly eroded and corporate policies now rule the day. 3- How about the work life-balance at this team? I don't know about the particular team you are talking about, but I found the work life balance to be amazing. Again it really depends on your perspective. I came from being on call for years so I loved the freedom that RH offered. I traveled a ton while at RH, but when I was home... I was home and could be with my family. So again perspective is critical. 4- How is the benefits works there, is it full salary or basic plus commission depending on sales and target? not to sound like a broken record, but it depends. you should ask the recruiter about your specific role. 5- I do appreciate also if anyone can tell me the cycle of commercial sales inside Red Hat. I'm not sure I understand what you mean by cycle. RH changed to a calendar year fiscal year. So you will get your quota about this time every year, then you go to Sales Kickoff then you start selling! SAs quotas / incentives are based on the year, but you get quarterly payouts based on where you are in taking down your number. The year closes out on Dec 31st and the cycle repeats itself. Hopefully that helps.
