Cousin is a senior at Harvard and will be doing investment banking afterwards. I asked him which jobs were the most coveted. Surprisingly, banking, MBB consulting, Big Tech, although still popular, don't have the luster they used to have. He said his smartest classmates are either doing STEM Phd, MD/Phd, startups, quant finance (e.g. Two Sigma, Citadel, Jane Street, DE Shaw).
so what have luster now?
That’s a good question. I have friends who went to Harvard for MBAs. A lot of them who are technically inclined are gunning for top roles at high end ML/AI companies like Anthropic or other start ups that they think are interesting. A lot of them still go after remuneration as a top priority but there’s a substantial number who are looking for impact first job opportunities.
i saw this exact post verbatim already last year. why you do that
