I recently applied to a Netflix role by directly emailing the hiring manager. 12 hours later she wrote me a note and explained exactly why I was not a good fit. It was both respectful and to the point. When you get a hundred canned rejection letters, a human gesture like this is all you need to help you keep going. It made me tear up, that's how touched I was. To the Netflix team, thank you for being human. TC 380k YoE 16 Edit: I never got to the interview stage, I emailed my resume at night and got a reply the next morning. The HM said she forwarded my resume to recruiting. There no current openings that would be a good fit, based on the description. I am not expecting recruiting to contact me.
Goddamn Netflix does it again
Agree I did the same a Netflix hiring manager. He even told me he’d be happy to refer me to other managers if I found a good fit.
That’s not human, that’s a cop out.
Right it's only human if he actually followed through with it. This seems like a lie to make things less awkward, like when you run across someone on the street you haven't seen in a while but you don't really care about each other, one person says they'll call the other to hang out but they never do.
OP - do you think that not having that type of experience can/will stop you from performing in the role ?
Everyone starts at 0 so no, having experience at scale can be learned if everyone else around you has it. Should I have argued the point with her?
How did you find out who the HM was?
Content of letter: This is Netflix. Let’s chill
Lol
Glad you had a good experience. I love companies that are professional and respectful to candidates. Good luck with wherever you end up. And if you are in a hiring role in the future, pass it on!
Wondering if firing letters are also that thoughtful?
Send her a Gift card worth $12.99!
Send one that's 12.99 now but will be worth 14.99 in 6 months,16.99 in 12 months....well you get the picture..
A microshare of netflix?
Netflix interview experience is pretty cool tbh. Except for the damn lunch.
Should email Netflix CEO to recognize this nice manager
Why weren't you a fit?
I don't have mass market mobile product experience.
Glad someone was human to you! Always feels great.
