I worked for 4 years (3 years as a software engineer and 1 year as a DW ETL analyst) before arriving in the US. My primary motivation was to get a masters and move to a more functional role. Got a job as a Data Analyst in the server infrastructure team which is somewhat leadership-facing. However, it’s been almost 4 years here and I feel like I am stuck in a rut. My management is not very progressive for newer tech. and work feels boring. I make reports and ppts all the time. I have thought about moving to a different job but feel a little insecure because I am neither a data scientist (don’t work on anything aside Time Series Forecasting) or a data engineer (work only on base SAS, Excel and VBA, none of the popular things like python, git, cloud etc.). I do really enjoy the fintech space but confused about where to go from here. Definitely need to get out of infrastructure and move to a business function - loans, risk, payments etc. What roles fit my profile and how to prepare for them? More importantly, I have 8 years of experience (4 in the US and 4 outside the US). What sort of level should I target? Anyone help will be greatly appreciated.
